Soil

Compost

The first major step was getting a composting system up and running. Growing food in soil is simple if you know what you’re doing, but even before knowing about things like plant nutrition, pest control, watering schedules and lighting, if you’re going to grow in soil, you need to have soil to begin with.

First, we set up a simple compost bay using 3 pallets.

IMO

To speed things up, we got a little IMO from a friend.

IMO

IMO (Indigenous Microorganisms) are beneficial microorganisms found naturally in soil. They include fungi, bacteria, and yeasts that thrive in undisturbed ecosystems. These microorganisms play a crucial role in maintaining soil health and fertility by promoting nutrient cycling and disease resistance. Farmers often use IMO to enhance plant growth and restore microbial diversity in soil. 🌱🌿
